I found a 52 Chevy pickup with 50,000 original miles,still runs and in good shape .Can anybody tell me how much it is worth, remember this truck is up for auction?

I would guess about 3500 to 5000,But its all about what it is worth to you.And is it a deluxe
cab or standard

When I was looking to buy a nice one . I could not find any thing that was nice for anything under $17,000.00 here in Vancouver BC.I wanted something with a V8 and when I was out bid on a 51 that I wasn't 100% sure I wanted but gave a max bid of $18,000.00 on ebay, I said forget it, I'll finish building my own. There was a stocker in my area that was nice that I could have had for $17,000.00, but Ididn't want to ruin it by customizing it. It wasn't 100% but I thought it was very nice.I looked at a lot of so called nice ones from between $4,000.00-$12,000.00, but they were all garbage.

I paid 2k for my 53. Guy wanted 2800. Shes in great shape, about 60k on her and a few hundred dollars for basic maintenence and tune up stuff, now shes road worthy. Its having difficulties now but I think Ive narrowed it down to the carberator.

But shes also got a flatbed-not original, but I like it better that way anyhow. It really depends on what you want or what you plan on doing with it.

I see these advance design trucks everywhere. I can think of about 7-8 within a 10 mile stretch of my house.

Did you check the selling prices in ebay? That would give you an idea. You can do a search on complete items at the site.

I recently sold a 52 that was a driver in "good" condition on E-Bay for $6,500.

I'm getting close to possibly selling another one. It's nicer, and closer to original. It'll require a fair amount over that $6,500 to get that one.

At an auction, you're pretty much at the mercy of your peers. You might walk away with a bargain, or you could get caught up in a bidding war with another party, and get taken for a ride.

Wow those are really nice trucks, and u sold the green one for 6500, someone got a nice deal!! I wish I would have known... Down here in S. Florida u see very little AD trucks, so they are worth a little more. I picked mine up for 1300 dollars and was almost kicked out of the house and neighborhood when I towed it home. I had to rebuilt everything.

I need a green truck,,, how much to boot.....

Yea. after 3 years and alot of help from the bolters here I have her were I want her, "daily driver". The neighbors get along better with me now, my wife still thinks Im "Nuts", wait till I find a Burb and bring it home, then I'll probably get kicked out!! Haha u only live once!!

Jorge have you left your sunny province? Was winter too harsh again this year? Or is this just a getaway that rich retired airline pilots go to....!!

Jeeze-you guys are talkin' over my head. I've never paid anything over 3 digits for a truck.No-I take that back;I bought a 72 Chevy LUV many years ago for 1,200.00,and it got hit right in front of my house the next night. It missed being totalled by fifty three bucks. If the rear bumper'd been on it,it would've been a write off.It was a very good truck once it was out of the bodyshop though.

Bill, it's getting so expensive to live in S. FL, that pretty soon a 1 bedroom , 1/2 bath home is going for 400,000......

Speed the only truck u'll find down here for under a grand will be something unrestorable..

I guess it depends on where you live on this planet,If I could find a decent driver today with a nice paint job for $5,000.00 you better believe I'd buy it. Cause no one in our area would sell one for under $15,000.00, Speed.

PS.I paid $50.00 for my 53, but it was an absolute piece of crap when I originaly got it.The only good thing was all the glass and the frame.

by the way the guy said it was a 235. i think it is the other, i will se when i pick it up next week.

For what it's worth, I think $4,800. was a good buy. I'd feel pretty confident in saying that you could turn a profit on it any time you need to.

As for the motor, without casting (or other) #'s off the block, it would be awfully hard to tell whether it's an early 235 or a 216. The early 235's look identical to the 216's. If I understand correctly, the difference is almost entirely internal i.e. bore and stroke.

Externally, in addition to the serial/casting #'s, some of the early 235's had some 235 verbage pressed into the side of the oil pan.

My 52 has a 1948 235. Put it side by side with the 216 in my 46, and visually you'd never know the difference.

Either way, if you don't wind them up too tight those old splash oilers are very good and dependable engines.
