I wasn't sure I'd ever get it to this point. With the fiasco concerning the title, to working by Mother Nature's schedule (too big to fit in garage and welding, cutting and grinding can be rough on a wooden barn!), it wasn't exactly smooth sailing! I snapped a few pics under the hood (back to the cell phone for those, sorry). I'm still trying to find a creative way of hiding the wiring, especially that ugly, rusted armored ignition wire coming from the original switch and getting everything else looking respectable. Right now, the easiest way seems to be by leaving the hood shut! The last I heard, the bus/hauler is up for sale. It took Roy all of about 10 minutes to get it fired up! If anyone is interested, I'll get the official word from him. PICS BELOW Engine 1 Engine 2

I'm jealous. Doubt my 57 GMC LCF will ever look that good. One question: what is the hole in the bed over rear wheels for?

You can see the chute HERE. I have no idea if the chute was an original part of the bed, which is a grain body made by the Perfection Steel Body Company from Galion, Ohio, or an old farmer add-on. I ended up removing the chute and filling the hole with a piece of native white oak from my old barn. It was nearly a perfect match for the original boards on the bed. There is also a 6-inch square hole approx 2 feet in front of the axle, just to the passenger side of the drive shaft with a sliding steel plate underneath it. I was told it was for dropping grain into a portable auger pit or tub where it would be elevated into a storage bin. I kept that operational, you know, just in case I wanted to haul a couple hundred bushel to the local elevator.

I'm assuming the truck did not have a hoist? I suppose that's how they must have dumped them before hydraulic hoists came along. | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 91 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 91 | Nope. I had plenty of people looking at me like I was crazy when I first drug it home! I even asked myself several times while crawling around in the slush and snow and rain and mud for 2 years "what in the world are you even gonna do with a 2-ton farm truck IF you get it done?". I still don't really have a "purpose" for it yet. At least my wife decided "that old truck" really didn't turn out too bad and that she could actually allow herself to be SEEN IN PUBLIC riding around in it! Though she's still not a fan of the 2-ton ride quality. I've decided one thing I'd like to do now is find an old 2 or 3-bottom 3-point Ferguson plow, blast and paint it MF red and grey and semi-permanatly chain it on the bed. A vintage MF tractor up there would look great but they don't give those away and I really don't need to get an extra 4500 lbs stopped at a cruise-in. | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 91 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 91 | Found this neat little site . I'm no wood worker by any stretch of the imagination so simple is good! The boards are 120 year-old 1x12 siding we salvaged off my Dad's old barn a decade ago, slathered in several coats of spar varnish. Yes, I very well may have totally ruined some very expensive wood (didn't cost me a dime though). but I didn't want new lumber on my old truck. At least I didn't have to strap down my cooler and chairs for the first awarded car show it lumbered to over the weekend, and I even got to haul a little something back home with me! What do you folks think? Keep the sides or ditch them? New sides New sides 2 New sides 3 Shelby Cruise In Results

Lighter trucks had 5.43:1 and higher (numerically lower) gear ratios. 2) The fish-plates rivited to the sides of the frame rails for stiffening. 3) The prop shaft parking brake. 4) The missing chassis tag I found under the fuel tank inside the cab. Long story short, I ended up pulling the engine, diagnosing the problem, scrapping that engine, sourcing out another engine, freshening it up and getting it back in the truck inside of roughly 3 weeks. The "new" engine, another 250, this time from a 1971 Nova, runs like new and should hopefully live happily ever after! The weather finally cooperated well enough to get roughly 40 miles in yesterday, including a couple minutes in the evening for a pic or two. Not Again! I may be way off base but I'm thinking maybe the 2-tons didn't get the 16,000lb rating until 47?

Just think how much the new owner will already know from all you have already told us and all the blood, sweat and tears we have seen!
She sure does look great.
