More pictures of my old truck

From Tom :

In October last year, I brought this solid old "Jimmy" home. It has a 4-71 Detroit, 5 speed over drive, 3 speed auxilary, with an Eaton "electric" 2-speed rear end.

The story goes that this one has always been kept inside and was last registered in 1974. I fired it up and drove it home! This truck runs and drives great, once the tires round out. .

From what I understand, the truck was bought in the mid 50's as a tractor with a broken frame. A new replacement frame was purchased in the proper wheelbase and the wrecker body was installed.

I more than likely will remove the Holmes wrecker and once again make a tractor out of it.

As for now, I'm currently looking for a "back in the day" sleeper box for it. A 50's, or early 60's is what I have in mind.

Any help locating one would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to the Stovebolt crew for a great site!!!

Be sure to check out my web site for some other projects, shows and other interesting stuff.

Thanks all,

Tom

Tom has some so cool trucks in his "collection" ... a 1958 GMC 550 Wrecker (actually Tom's Dad's truck); a 1964 Chevy C80 Tandum Dump Truck; a 1947 Dodge WDX Power Wagon (not a Gallery page, but a cool pix and one of his toys (drool); a 1977 Chevy K 30 (not a Gallery addition, but some info about the truck in with his '64). Check out his web site, too. He's got some fun stuff there, too. ~ Editor
