The pic I linked is the timing mark on the fly wheel.
Before I remove the distributor I turn the engine over until the pointer is on the ball like in that pic. I'm able to turn the engine with the fan.
Then note the position of the rotor on the distributor before you remove it. Reinstall the distributor so that the rotor is in the same position.
