Or, you could just bypass the "R" or "run" terminal from the starter and just run a wire from the "run" voltage terminal of the switch (pink wire) directly to the coil. With HEI, there is no need for "reduced voltage" at the coil B+ terminal. But, you will need to make sure you have 12v at the pink wire at the ignition switch first.If not, you probably have a defective switch. It wouldn't be the first time I saw a "new" component be defective.
