Since I'm going to have to repull the motor from the firetruck and repair it, I'm going to address the location of the water pump and fan. I've noticed that it was in the lower third of the radiator on the 261 motor in the 1951 chevy. It seems to over heat so while the motor is out, I'm going to add the water pump adapter plate.
I guess my question is: can I use the 235 water pump with the adapter plate or must I have the 216 water pump? I've searched andread many posts but I'm not clear on which water pump should match up on a 1959-1962 261 motor and the adapter plate sold by Pre68Dave.
