I set the multimeter to Ohms. I put the black (COM) lead to the intake manifold for ground. I put the red lead at the end of the wire that had been connected to the coils (-) post. The readout was 0.L. This was whether the key was on or off and the same if points were open or closed.
So one lead was touching the disconnected wire and the other the manifold. I did it wrong, didn't I?
I'm using an Innova 3320 meter.
