Ok, I tried to hot wire. Nothing. I used a 12ga wire and alligator clips.
I traced the two wires attached to the coil. The black wire runs from the bottom of the distributor to the negative post of the coil. The yellow wire goes from the positive post of the coil and down into the wiring harness.
One interesting point. The yellow wire has what appears to be a T type connector. It looks like the wire may have continued on elsewhere. The prongs on the connector are at a right angle to the wire. I can find no loose wire around the distributor.
The coil has printed on it that it requires a resistor. Could the store have given me the wrong coil?
