Ok, let me see if I have this. The wire on the coils (-) post (a black wire) is to be disconnected from the coil. To ask a dumb question, where do I put the leads of the meter in order to get the resistance of the points? According to the Motors Manual, this wire should go to the distributor.
In the original coil, I got a good reading on the secondary coil but not the primary. I followed the examples in the book in order to test it. Autozone also tested it and declared it bad. I would not have replaced it without testing it first.
If I hear from you by the morning, I will run the resistance tests before I have to run out of town errands.
