Make sure you are disconnecting the ground off the battery while doing all this parts install. Did you get a capacitor? Put it all back together, check all wires carefully and then see if it fires at all. Tell us what it does. No fire? no spark? spits thru carburetor? won't even turn over? starts right up? The best way to check spark while cranking is to use a spare plug. Pull off a plug wire and put it on the spare plug and hold the plug against a good ground and watch for spark. you can also just stick a bolt or nail in the plug wire end and watch. It is better to leave all plugs in the engine if you can.
