nothing optional about either - alternators are the later replacement for generators, different technology, same function .... if you have one, you don't have [or need] the other, either "generates" voltage/current to keep the battery charged while the engine is running, and supplies power for accessories .... why do you want to put a 100 amp alt on it? plan on having lots of power sucking accessories?
