OK disregard last reply, after reading into it further i have seen more bad things about amp meters and nothing on volt meters. I would hate for a shunt to fail and risk of fire and making all go bad if it fails opposed to a voltmeter which has no risks of fire. So my new question is how can I "disconnect: my current amp meter and install the voltmeter instead, like one of these add on voltmeters and not an indash voltmeter? Will I be ok to drive my truck with the alternator until I can get it to shop so they can disengage the amp meter and install voltmeter?
