Found the bearings in the Timken catalog.
Hard to make a table, but here's a try:
Front (original) wheel bearings for 3/4 and 1 ton Chevy.

The outer rings being the same width tells me the sealing method is probably the same, and the later spindles may not solve the seal problem. But no problem, I can't find an inner bearing to adapt the 2wd Chevy disc/hub to the old spindle. So I could make a bushing/adapter to also include the seal diameter.
Obviously this is still speculation 'til I get a rotor/hub to measure and try.
