Well, How do the pistons and cylinders look? Are they rusted up now? Can you see why the engine is siezed up?
If you pull the tranny, why can't you pull the clutch and flywheel?
I cover my engines with large clean beach towels. A large contractor garbage bag works pretty good too. If it's going to sit for a while or you have a damp garage, spray it down with WD-40.
