I was able to remove the four bolts that hold the collar with no problems. The u-bolts I am referring to are part of the u-joint.

here are a couple pictures of what I am referring to. Try as I might, I can't get the pictured u-bolt to move at all.
Once I get that off, how do I get the drive shaft out? The shop manual says to "split joint and lower front end of rear propeller shaft". By split do they mean pull it back away from the joint or push it down? Sorry if that is a dumb question, ive never done anything like this before
