My point is this, take your paint example, If a person was given the same resources that the factory workers had, how could you tell original paint from only 40 year old paint that had been done using same materials and style of workmanship without taking that paint off to see what was underneath? I have been to those car shows and it is amazing how many people see a crappy cracked paint and imediately announce "look, it has the original paint".

I believe a couple of posts up got the closest by using the words "original style"

Not trying to take anything away from anybody, and not wanting to namw any names, but there is one well known "historian" that you will hear some people almost refer to as a God while others will tell you he is a moron. A well known book that many use as reference to restore their old truck has as many untruths as real information.

How do you prove or disprove an original car by the definition given? take that 35% paint rule, who determines the difference between 34% and 36%?

I like an original style car or truck as much as anyone but truth is, when it all comes down to it, it is your word against someone elses.
