The first "camper" I can remember was the 37 Chevy panel truck that served double duty as the tow car for the family's 34 Ford 3-window coupe dirt track car, and had GI bunk frames welded to hinges on the sides for fishing trips. It had a top rack for an incredibly heavy wood boat my Dad and uncle built, and we slept in the old truck at many a lakeside campsite.

I picked up a 59 Carryall many years ago in California, put 70 model 3/4 ton running gear under it, except for the 1/2 ton front axle, and drove it to Tennessee when we moved back home. It's going to get a Caddy 500 engine, Turbo 400 trans, and 3/4 ton IFS one of these days, and become my trailer-towing rig.
