I ran some hand-built wheels on a Sunbeam Tiger at 160+ MPH without any problems. They were fabbed up on a big lathe at the US Army auto hobby shop on Okinawa in 1971. That car, with one of my engines in it, competed in the Macau Grand Prix the following year, after I headed back to the USA. I was a USAF electronics tech back then.
