Here is another kink. It illegal to distill alcohol in the US. That is unless you have a permit from the government. If you are making ethanol for human consumption the tax is 14 dollars a gallon. If you are making it for fuel you still need a permit. However the tax is not as much, but you must document every gallon to make sure it goes into the fuel tank and not into a glass. I looked into this a few years ago, I decided that to do it legally was just too much of a PITA. Jimmie.
