I've been using electrolysis to remove rust from some of the parts I have. I have a garbage can filled with electrolyte and a 15 amp charger. It seems to work pretty well (bell housing and intake manifold) until the rods get dirty, it drops to 3 amps then. I tried 2 and 6 amps and it took for ever. You probably want more than a trickle (2 amp) charger. I'm not an expert, my 2 cents.
