That mount in the center of the crossmember in your first photo would have a rubber material for vibration dampening. Here's a picture of the transmission mount from my 1951 3100 when I recast the rubber in it. I'm assuming a mount for the 1946 would be similar or the same. Also attached is a snip from the 1929-1954 Parts Catalog for that item.
