The frame under my project has an original-looking, riveted-in crossmember with mounts to support the rear of the engine at the bellhousing. (See 1st photo) There are holes in the frame that seem to indicate that the bolt-in crossmember should be present, but was not when I purchased the project. (See 2nd Photo) Although there are some measurements of my frame that don't seem to match what appears in the Chevrolet publications, it seems to mostly match the 1941-'46 frames. The '42-'47 Chevrolet Shop Manual refers to a bolt-in crossmember "...is of box member construction for its entire length. Bolt attachment to the side members provides easy removal for the servicing of the transmission."
