Hello all, thanks for checking in and following along.

The hood work is ongoing, albeit slowly. I am getting a premium shop rate which means other customer work gets priority. That is okay as it allows me to chip in and make parts to reduce the hours billed through the shop. I remade the hinge mount supports to beef up the hood where the hinge mounts as it stress cracked and was repaired at some point and has cracked again. The first set of reinforcements was trashed with the current work.
I learned of a cool product called “ Quick Latch” the system which works very similar to an air line connector. It is like a ball and socket, with the socket having a ring of mini ball bearings that capture the ball when pressed together. The hold is very strong and secure. I am going to use them to replace the original hood side latch system, the ball will be mounted to the frame and the sockets will be install on the hood sides. I will have 2/side.
The pictures show the materials and hand tools used for the hood reinforcement pieces. The rest of the pictures are of the start of the latch install. I want to keep the original handle, but did not want to just weld it into place. I fabbed up a Mount that allows the handle bolt to be used, but is secure so the handle doesn’t jiggle or flop around.
