No matter whether it is Pertronix, HEI or stock points, none are a 100% reliable. I don't know about the Pertronix, but points can sometimes be fiddled with and you can get it home if something happens. HEI your pretty much calling a hauler to get you home (I've had the module quit one time on an HEI in the car, just like shutting the switch off). But the HEI is pretty reliable most of the time and proven.
