Oh, I am reading every word. Then I am going to everyones web sites to see exactly what they have to say. But your question is a concern. Also, this brings up a SPEC issue. They are using a china replacement, but if I purchase a replacement GM part, will it still work? But I am happy anyway if I CAN replace china with GM actual.
People want reliability, but since they don't usually think any further, go with proprietary, then complain they will NEVER EVER go to HEI again when their Pertronix dies and leaves them stranded. So, Stovebolters are here to help!! We need to recommend:
a) reliable alternatives to points
b) easy to source parts to replace faulty parts.
Not necessarily in that order. To me, there is NO subjectivity here. Unless two sources both use genuine GM replacement parts. Then we recommend both or either. Usually, it either IS or it ISNT. Lets find out. I have heard you say before Dave that you recommend Pertronix to your customers. This tells me that we are talking about a very small difference in reliability here because I feel you know your stuff. But if you were to recommend to the KING an HEI what would it be? Anyone who thinks this issue is subjective, lets get out the microscope and really get down to the most minute detail. That's the HEI I want. It will NEVER cease to amaze me all the talking you have to do, to finally get the REAL answer. But I am patient.
