Gents,
I have a 6 volt starter that is working in a 12 volt environment on my 1942 truck. My problem is that the strater spins too soon, and is chewing up the gear on the flywheel. If I don't hold the starter rod just right - it makes an awful racket and fails to drive the engine.
What can I do to delay this - grind a bit from the manual starter arm that pushes the drive gear - or is there a better way?
I appreciate your thoughts on this.
