I already dropped off the starter so I don't have it here to physically look at. It's hard to tell from the pics in the manual but it looks like there are only two coils in the case. It also looks like there are two empty cores or pole shoes at 90° to them. Why Delco would put the two empty shoes in the case is beyond me, these guys were always trying to save a penny everywhere they could.
The truck starts fine as it is, it catches the first or second time round but that slow grind just doesn't feel real comfortable when you’re used to the 12v systems. Also it’s 85° out side right now and when things cool off round here I’d like to feel a little more umph when I stand on the button. This will be nice if this works and another thing I like is that it will be indistinguishable from a stock starter. Now I’m wondering how it would crank with an 8v bat behind it.
