Valid points Bill but I think this thread really got away from the "original" topic. I just wanted to share some info I found out with the group. Original, not original doesn't really matter. Everyone here probably has a different reason for liking old trucks. I've had mine about 8 years and just like driving it around for what it is...a cool classic truck with good points and some things that are a pain. But that goes along with it. Now it is more fun because I know it will start again when I make a stop or go to a show.
Sure I drive a 12 volt S10 to work because I have to get there on time but when I drive my 51 "time machine" I don't worry about that. I carry a tool bag for when things don't quite go right. I like the foot start and the 6 volt. It just starts much better now though I suspect it has more to do that I went through the entire starting system such that it is and repaired all of it and the rebuilt starter is icing on the cake.
I did send in some pictures and a story for the gallery so hopefully it will be up soon.
