Just told Vicki You and Gloria will be there.
She said to say Hi and looking foreward to the get together.

Since John is bringing a Giant Bolt, I'm starting to think about bringing a big Bolt instead of a 3/4 ton.

Mongo, you going to need a stage?

Hey Alvin! Dennis Brittain here (Athens, GA) We met at the recent Commerce GA swap meet. I was in the big red Buick Convertible. Anyway, I've just finished my 49 1 Ton flatbed dump truck, and was "toying" with the idea of driving to Kansas City in Sept. I've taken one long cruise so far to Alabama and back, about 300 miles... with no problems. Would you be able to chat by phone? I'd like to find out more about the event so I can decide whether or not I should pull it off this year. If you go, are you planning a southern convoy of sorts?
Here's my truck

Thanks!

Anyone "thinking" of bringing a truck to the show this year, please do. We are planning some kind of memorial for Bill Alderson and will probably still do something with his family the Thursday before. There's gonna be several first time showers this year, me and John included! We need the largest crowd of 'Bolters ever!!!,
Scott

Keep us informed on the where and when.
A Bill Alderson get together would be a StoveBolt event, In it's own right.

Vicki and I will be there there.

Leo, show your friend some pics of some of the other get togethers, and He/She will not be able to resist.

loadmaster235, Hey Dennis! Yes I remember the Ga. event quite well. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner but I just got back from Wilmington, N.C. where I was helping take care of my father-in-law. (Victoria just finished up a two week stay)

I am not sure now if we will make it Sept. I was, and still counting on going but we may not know until the week before.

I was planning to drive my panel this year. I currently have a rebuilt 700R4 I want to put in the panel but time is getting short and I don't have the headliner in it. All else is a go.

Yes, you can give me a call anytime........Alvin

56PICUP will be in absentia this year. Wifey and I will be on an Alaska cruise Sept. 7-14 and the '56 will be in the shed unless my son & grandson make the trip. By the way, they (son & grandson) talked me out of selling my truck as it is the only project that my son and I ever did together. However, my son says it needs a big block, an IFS, power brakes and steering, etc. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH THESE PEOPLE??? : {

Beats me. I think your truck is great the way it is. Sorry you won't be making it.

I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned. Is the Econo-Lodge giving us a better rate and if so, do we need to mention a special code to get the discount?

We plan on arriving Thursday night and staying until Sunday.

We had hoped to talk to Mongo this weekend. This is the end of the weekend so we have HOURS left.

Mongo's club reserves a group of rooms for a special rate. So, we'll have to see what he says.

We are staying at the Super 8 just a block away from the park. Our rooms only cost $60.00 per night.

I believe we checked out the Super 8 last year and they weren't very interested in our business as they cater to the casino (for overflow) right across the street. If I remember correctly, they also didn't have a lot of rooms and were reluctant to reserve a sizable block of them for the truck show. It did seem like a nice place though.

With Super 8 giving a 60 rate maybe Economy will do a little better if they know we're competitive pricing????

Just called Econolodge again and finally caught up with the guy that I needed to talk to that's not been calling me back. They're current deal they do for groups is 10% off that makes it $62.99 Plus Tax. So not the deal we had last year but close. I've got a block of rooms setup and already have some folks in it, if you've made a reservation already make sure you call back and have them move them under "All Truck Nationals" and have them give you the discount.

Still need to have another call with John and Peg but I think we're good for the most part. Scott I'm guessing your on point for the details for Thursday night at the Aldersons.

Also if there is interest I'm moving into the new "Mongo's Garage 23rd" shop as we speak and it's closer than the Old truck compound so if there's interest in doing a meetup and convoy to Aldersons from there on Thursday night or potentially a happy hour Saturday night there that is an option as well.

On the subject of the Super 8, I try not to talk bad about anyplace if I can help it but I've had a couple complaints from participants that have stayed there in the past and a particularly bad one last year there. When I stayed there 4-5 years ago I would put it on par with the American so not great but also I've been known to pull up a rock to prop my head under and lay down outside next to a fire or even without so I'm not a great judge. I also had the same experience trying to set up a block and rate with them and the Casino hotel years ago.

Just made reservation at the Econolodge on Tanney st. and the rate was 59.99 a night plus tax, two queen beds non smoking, my total for 3 nights $231.22. i asked if there was a special rate for the all truck nationals and said no. the tax rate seems high 28%. i could hear that she was being coached maybe new. I remember last year now, they bumped the rate for weekend (Saturday) by $10.00.

I guess I'm up now...I talked to Wayne Alderson last weekend, the plan is to have a meet and greet at they're caves again. Thursday night we can meet outside the caves at the parking lot or at Mongos or whatever. When Patti gets home in the next few days, I'll try to iron out a few details with her. I'll get a time and an address for those who never been there who want to MapQuest it or something,

I'm going to lock this thread down so that the pertinent info can go in the category it needs to be in.
