New cross sills arrived from Mar-k so I can put the bed back together. In the 2 years since taking it apart we managed to lose the original ones but, they are sure to show up as soon as the news are installed.

I put new padding and an LMC seat cover on my seat. I think it came out pretty good for my first time.

Thanks guys, Here is another recent project. I found a recipe for whats supposed to be home made lizard skin, the sound and heat insulator. I haven't really got to test it yet because I haven't put the doors back on. It may fall off in 6 months but it sure looks good for now.

I assume your secret recipe for "Lizard Skin" is exterior latex house paint with ceramic micro spheres/balloons added in. Looks good, hope it lasts.

No, this was my first crack at it. I ordered the seat cover though, I didn't make it. I did start with a bare seat frame and springs. I found a kit online with everything needed to pad the seat.

yahoo

Not the right forum for this question, but check for kinks in the line. Loosen it up at the block and see if you have oil there, it could be plugged in the block, or it could not be pumping oil.

Busy day today. I adjusted the hood & fenders. Finally a nice fit. Also put the grille together, picked it up the other day from a friend that powder coated it. Also finished up the interior. A few more adjustments & install the grille & I should be on the road... drive

After a year of working on the right side inner cowl panel, I have it welded in. I have now sanded down the inner fender and treated the inside of the fender with Eastwood's rust encapsulater. That topped with a coat of semi gloss paint. The engine side was sanded and shot with a gloss paint. The outer fender was sanded down on the inside and was shot with two coats of same rust preventive, and then top coated with flat black paint. tomorrow I plan on sanding down the outside of the outer fender, and depending on weather and motivation, I will treat it with phosphoric acid the shoot with a couple of coats of primer.

Finally got rid of the skinny bias plies and put on a set of radials. I bought 6 very good used Michelins for $125 at the flea market. 85/215R16, slightly taller than the old tires.

I took my seat to the upolstery shop 2 weeks ago. (A good friend of mine) Selected the material, and said "no hurry"! He called a week later and said it was done! Great job, at a super resonable price! It's now sitting in tbe bed of the truck under wrap as I have a few other projects to finish. As soon as they, are completed, I will be focusing all my time on finishing up the interior, and complete wiring harness install!

Dogface, most of us has "been there" on the hood adjustment, me included. Did you read the tech tip article? Its still challenging but I was surprised in the end, after days and weeks of working on it off and on. Then, one day, the stovebolt stars all lined up and it came out great. PATIENCE is the key word here.

ditto on looking in tech tips.

Also remember these were work trucks and didn't line up like they do on today's truck. Back then close was good enough.

Hooked up the dome light today. My bride and I went to dinner at a friend's the other night and the dome light wouldn't work. Hmmm.. Checked the bulb. Good. Checked for power- no power. Traced the wire down to the fuse box and found a nice clean cut off wire labeled "CRTSY". Doh! I never got around to connecting it to power.
At least it wasn't something critical like a brake line!

well, it wasn't "my bolt" but I did finish rebuilding the hinges on a 50 pickup. Some broke some just frozen in time. They still had the original pins in them....well, what was left of them. Whew, I'm getting to old for this hot weather. I think I'll send the next guy to someone else. Anyway, I'm finished and all is good. Whew, they were a booger.

I did read the tech tip. The hood is on my list but a few other things come first. I guess the new clutch and TO bearing were either bad parts or put in wrong cuz it still screams at me as I ease the clutch out. Also seem to have a broken speedo cable. My wrench friend recently ruptured a disc in his back too...so I wait or find a new guy.

As to the hood...are the springs and hinges two separate parts? I already have and use the hood hold up rod. Maybe if I remove the springs it'll help ?

Edit:

I now see that the springs are completely separate from the hinges...I think they'll be easily removed but dunno if it'll make any difference. One of the hinges, however, looks like it has a curve in the support which should rest on the cowl/firewall but is about 3/8" too high. I should address that too. I hope NOT to have to take the hood off to do this. The fenders cannot be moved since some PO welded them to the body for some unknown reason. ?

Cleaned inside of distributor. It is amazing that old grease and mouse turds keeps the centrifugal advance from working too well.

Still recovering from the rotator cusp surgery. One handed sanded down the right rear fender and bed side to bear metal. Had my son load them in the truck for me and we took them down to the plant and media blasted the nooks and cranies where the disc wouldn't fit into. Hot water washed them, dried them, brought them back home to spray the rust inhibitor on them.

Not a bad way to spend a Father's day morning yahoo

Took off the hood springs, which were Chinese anyway, that didn't work at all, and now the hood fits MUCH better. I need to adjust the latch some though. Now just have a tiny extra bit of gap on the right at the cowl... Yippee !

Picked up my radio from a guy who brought it back to life for me.
It was a 2 hour drive up into God's country, a great lunch with he and his wife and then a beautiful drive back home.
All in all, a great day. And we do live in the one the beautiful parts of the country. A great day off.
Thanks Fred.
