Got out the tig to 1) Practice welding with it and 2) Finish welding the exhaust pipes. Not a hard concept, just got to learn to finesse it and synchronize foot with hand and hand. I didn't do real bad with the exhaust tubing and O2 sensor bung. | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 206 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 206 | I took my burb for a spin with after dropping in another 235, swapping the 3rd, with a 3 speed with over drive on the tree now.

I assume you welded in some sheet metal and then some bondo.
What color did you paint your dash?

Then I used Rust-oleum's Dark Bronze Metallic (#7272). It's a decent match for the original color, but I wanted some shine so I used Rust-oleum's Crystal Clear Enamel (#7701) over the bronze. It looks better in person, and in the sun. | | | | Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,470 Bond Villain | Bond Villain Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,470 | Peg here. I wish I had put it in earlier but we got r done. I just need to replace the gas pedal and couple small things like putting some self tapping screws through it to keep it in place. I filled all holes when the body was off for body work.
....it was a little tight and had to trim the edges a little but with all the cowl panel work its no wonder. | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 | Pulled my rad out, also the fan and water pump. I sourced a bigger pulley for the water pump, will change that on Monday, heater going in too while the engine is drained. | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | With the holidays over I'll be heating the garage and diving into a few chores I've been planning on for a couple of months. The first is to locate a remote charging station to avoid having to remove carpet of drop the battery when needed. If my fading memory will allow I'll post some pics.

Discovered we needed to order some new T-bolts to attach the A-arms since we're using some existing parts we already had. Also ordered my column saver kit, which I'm quite excited about! Plan on keeping my interior as original as possible but have a more dependable engine. So looking forward to getting a few boxes from my FedEx man at the end of the week!

The blower motor is siezed though... I'm hoping the '58 parts truck has a good one. I also freed-up the throttle and choke cables and painted some interior parts since it was sunny yesterday. I'm waiting on a Fed-Ex delivery as well... new glove box liner and bumpers, heater decal and a firewall grommet set. I only had a few hours to "play" but any progress is good. The turn of tide for some reassembly is near! Jerry

I can relate to the excitement of expecting parts from Fed-x and UPS. That is one of the "fun" things (watching for the delivery) we experience in this hobby.

Tomorrow, more welding of the cracks then finish blasting the front apron, then paint for both. I'm still pulling glass bead out of my ears. Work might slow on the Suburban again as it is almost time to put the flopper together! Gonna need to fix and update the trailers for both the flopper and the dragster! The 6" pulley simply went over the existing 4" pulley. Bolt the fan back on, get a slightly longer fan belt and I'm in business. Won't this move the pulley about a hundred thousands forward and cause a slight misalignment of the belt resulting in excess wear?
