Yesterday I adjusted the valves in my 1950 3600 (235) (they did not seem that far off and everything looked very clean)

I also replaced my heater switch with a new one fron NAPA. The old one only worked on high speed. I've taken it apart and found it to not be repairable. $16.99 later, the new one works great. High speed then a slow delcine in speed AND the light buld works and dims as the speed reduces. I think that is how is supposed to work!

I'm still driving it as the bed metal and rear fenders are in body shop prison! The rest of the truck will make it to body shop in a bit.

Thanks. My attempts at adding power windows were epic failures! I could never get them adjusted right so I eventually gave up.

Finally the dash is back togeater and I can move on to the next project. We re-built 3 of the 4 hinges and pitched the 4th into the trash. The hinge pin was just too rusty and wouldn't press out.

Major accomplishment for me yesterday when I removed the '59 cab from the frame.
Saturday, I constructed a dolly for the cab then made a swivel beam to be used with my engine lift.
I removed the windshield and rear glass to help lighten the load (they were coming out anyway). I then removed the steering column/gearbox assembly for a straight shot with minimum lift.
The cab came off nicely without a problem at all and is sitting pretty in my garage on the dolly.
I had a nice shower and glass of red wine afterwards...

'52 1/2 ton: Got the rear end gear change/rebuild completed and button up. Modified new parking brake cables and installed. New rear drums completed and new brake piping done on rear axle. Rear of chassis completed.

I installed a new master cylinder and booster. (set up and test fit with steering column). Soontake apart to paint firewall. Started on driverside rear fender.

We would sure like to see what you're doing. "Where are the pic?"

Now that looks good, clean and deliberate. Nice work David.

Small step on my '59 project I know, but any step forward for me is good... I painted my brake and clutch pedal arms and put the new pads on them.
There's such a feeling of gratitude knowing that every part on this truck will get my attention. I'll be at a loss when everything's done!

Two new U joints, rear tranny seal, oil and filter change, grease, and a new muffler.

Next project, '51 flatbed clutch, oil change, tuneup, brakes, and anything else it might need,

After taking the 64' on it's road trip to OKC(600 miles round trip) I got home and realized that the steering box was leaking bad. Replaced the seals on that and now it's clean and working as it should again. Didn't realize how much I'd miss having some oil in the box until I got home and found out just how tired I was after 600 miles of "Armstrong" power steering. Have some more small parts coming later this week and it's getting closer to being "DONE". For real! I've posted some pictures on Flickr but don't know if I've done it right yet to access them here. Had a great trip and looking forward to making another to Georgia in Feb. perhaps.

Since 1 of the front brake calipers was hanging up I replaced both of them. Yesterday I fixed the oil leak on the SBC. There is a NTP plug in the block back near the distributor which allows the oil gallery to be drilled for the pressure sensor. In it's previous life some nimrod had jammed a 3/8-16 plug into a 1/4-14NTP hole.

The glass in the drivers door cracked a couple years ago so I took the glass out so I can get a new one cut next week.

It wasn't today but was this past Monday. I painted the 51. My new glass will be here Monday so I will have plenty to do next week. Pictures are in my sig below album #2.

Ok I have been working the night shift 7pm-7am going to the shop from there and finishing up a few tubs for customers. I have not had a chance to doing anyting last 2 days. But I am making great progress thanks to all you who have been helping out. I am still overwellemed with the blessings you all have made this alot more feesable. I have 4 more night shifts then I have a couple of days off I will post lots of pics on progress. I also have to find out how to post something like an album. Shawn

I had a foot stomp starter rebuilt and will be going in this week,its probably going to take me a little time to get used to a foot stomp starter but a 37 is supposed to have it.

completed brake booster/MC, proportioning valve and front brake plumbing installation. Still have rear brake plumbing to do, but ran out of tubing. Will take about 35' of tubing total when complete.

To me nothing looks worse on a truck than when the bed looks unlevel across the tailgate. Mine has a 1/2" drop on the right side, probably due to uneven springs, and it's been driving me crazy. I plan, now that I have a bit of time, on putting a 1/2" plate under my left side shackle. That should fix the problem.

Jim, I'd suspect the cab mounts.

I tried the mounts with no success. I took it out to Sachse Rod Shop and Frank said It was not uncommon for a pair of springs (in this case TCI) to be built a bit different so that one set will sit lower or higher than the other. It was his suggestion to use the plate under the shackle.

..been messing with my e-brake system for sometime. It was something I DREAMED up while laying in bed some time ago.

I hooked an adjustable "turnbuckle" type deal to the brake crossmember then ran the cable up just beneath the body under the seat riser. Ran the cable through an eyebolt that I bent to a "L" shape so it'd stick up through the floor and put a nut on it. Then bolted the e-brake from a Colt beside my driver seat.

I know I've mentioned this before but can now say it works really nice.

My 39 STUBBED TOE
I have been going out to the shop most every day & some at nite. Long hours & it's getting cold. My cab is on rollers in the shop & P30 1 ton frame just outside. Frame is to long to get inside & no rear axle under it yet. But things are looking up, I found a rear end today.
In this past week I got most of the paint/rust off the cab's exterior . One more day with my angle grinder sanding disk should do it.
Most all the hanging metal is off, one more door & a few small door sil plates to go.
Also I replaced the front coil springs with air bags this past week. Aired up with wheels & tires up front now.
Today I found a 1 ton rear end & brought it home. It's a late 1980's ford, I won't use it in the end, but I can get the frame off jack stands & rolled up to the garage door, once I have four wheels/tires on board.
Tomorrow I will be cutting the GM wheels center hub hole bigger to mount wheel to ford axle. But that's OK, they are 16.5s & I planned on scraping them anyways. I got the full set for 10-bucks, two with tires. I did need to envest another $15 each for two more junk tires, Owell, I mounted them my self, saved another $10 each. Every body wants my money.
Hopfully by Monday I can give another update on my rear end instalment.
I also took the leaf springs off frame this past week. all except main leaf.
Now to mount rearend & start seting up rear bags... WOOPEE
I can't slow down now, things are just starting to get good.

Just picked up a 427bbc and an Eaton Fuller 5speed overdrive to wedge into my 1.5ton. time to dig in!

Finished the rolling chassis complete with new brakes (disks up front and power assisted). Started on cab sheet metal repair and will be rebuilding engine when I need a break from sheet metal work.

I stripped the dash components out of the '59 cab and began hand sanding all the surface rust.
I could only laugh at the gunk on my face when I quit for the day and saw myself in the mirror. I had a nice white area around where my dust mask fit.
Still have more sanding to do...

Finished the wiring for the blue LED's in the engine compartment. They came out really good. the picture doen't do it justice.

I really like the washer bottle John. Do you have pictures of how you mounted the spray nozzles?

On the '59 the wiper bezels are pre-plumbed for the sprayer. All you have to do is remove the screw and screw in the nozzel, then connect the hose to the tube on the back side. Then I mounted a universal pump under the dash.

"Bella" went to the sign company for graphics today to have signage put on for our country store - she'll be done tomorrow! Wahoo!!

I fabricated new front brake lines and installed. Found an OEM 1953 rear axle on Craigslist and will pick it up on Sat.

Removed front and rear leaf springs to get them re-arched. Going to Houston for Christmas and found a spring shop 3 miles from where I grew up. I will take them with me. They will re-arch all 4 for $300.

Also rented a ball joint press (BIG C-clamp) to remove the spring bushings from the frame. About 3/4 turn and then heard a 'pop'! sweet sound. After that they all came out fairly easily.
