I am looking to see if anyone has a link or a picture of a stovebolt with an 88-98 sportside bed? Ive found two pictures and they are the same angle from the front of the passenger side of truck where you cant really see the bed much. I am looking for a side angle or back angle.

you can of course do with your street rod whatever you like. that being said, the lines of the 90 bed would not complement the cab body at all. if you need a bed, there are new reproduction units availible, or build/buy a flatbed to put on it until you can get one. good quality used beds are getting hard to come by.
just my opinion.

I've seen a few over the years. I agree with the previous posters in that the "90's look just doesn't blend well with the 50's cab and front end. JMO

To each his own...
I saw an AD truck with an 88-98 Fleetside bed that had been narrowed then the AD fenders were grafted on. Great workmanship. Actually looked better than one might think.

I've seen several done. While some look better than others, in my opinion none ever look good. You can do a google image search and probably turn up hundreds, with the right key words.

If you like the look go for it. You will probably get a lot of people whispering though. Critics are everywhere but who cares what they think!!!
I would go with the wooden flat bed look as said previously until yoiu can buy the correct bed. Pine is cheap and looks good once urethaned natural. But that's my opinion and no one cares about that either!!! LOL

Since you want a goofy looking truck, you might as well do this too.

I was looking to "shave" the steps off and blend in the factory 50 running board, leaving the steps on would stick out past the cab and WOULD look stupid! I think the narrowed bed would probly blend in well with steps shaved off, that is the main reason i asked if anybody has a pic or knows a link... I have Googled and Yahooed several weeks and only found 2 pics that barely show the passenger corner of the bed from the front of truck. I did see the one where they narrowed a fleetside bed and put fenders on the sides and yes that did look good and blended well, that would lead me to believe the sportside would look good too. I cant be the only person that has ever thought about this, someone has to have already done it and have pics.

....GIT R DONE. Go for it. Variety is a good thing. I've seen a couple 40's Ferd pickups with Ranger flared bed sides and I've seen a Chevy pickup or two with a flared S10 pickup bed on them and tastefully done I couldn't say they didn't look good. Sorry I didn't get pics.

This is just wrong. It goes against nature. An abomination... Why would someone do that to an old truck? Why?

If you do it, take the time to re-arch the wheel well opening. The stepside bed is kind of squared off while the AD front fender opening is rounded.

Another option is to get some sheet metal rolled to the same contour as the door and have it extend from the bed side roll down to the bottom, with a relief cut around the AD fender. Saw something like it in one of the magazines. Looked good when it was done.

Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice)
\'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run.
My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787.
