Will let it weather and put on finished coats later. Thanks for the info. You guys are appreciated. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 207 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 207 | Wow! Was pretty red when I coated with linseed oil, so I stained it with red mahogony. In two or 3 months I will give it several coats with polyurathane that has pecan stain mixed right in it. I know what it will look like because I just refinished my farm house kitchen table and a dresser this winter with the same process. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 13 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 13 | Had to go darker because the wood was stained with motor oil, grease and tar from the junk the previous owner threw in it. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 13 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 13 | Not bad considering the deck cleaner was $ 3.00 and the linseed oil cost 3 bucks and the stain was $4.88. Used $20 dollars worth of sandpaper for a total of $30.88 | | | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 426 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 426 | Factory would have been pine, but could easily have been oak that was replaced later on. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 117 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 117 | The wood is oak. Looks great. | | |
