I printed out the great tech tip on Advanced design hood alignment, unfortunately the instructions say to attach the support bracket to cab a fender and " measure from center of bolt head to edge of bracket", I have 2 bolts at the cab holding the support bracket , which do I measure from and to where on fender bracket (back or front)

Measure from the bolt closest to the fender. It shouldn't matter much whether you use the front, back, or middle of the fender bracket. Chances are you will have to re-adjust these rods to fine tune how the hood fits between the fenders.

Now just a little hood work (it has a tweak from catching on lip)

the drivers side is a ways off from the 27 1/4 recommended (almost 28"),passenger side pretty close to 27"

I just looked at this tech tip as my hood is out by an inch Would this work on a 58

Can someone send mea link for this tip?

Ok i just did a seach for Hood adjustment and went pape to page and can only find procedures for 1st series trucks. Mine is a 1955 GMC 2nd series and I havent been able to find any adjustment tips or procedures for this. Hope someone one can help.I would look in a manual if I had one but dont have that either.

Another procedure is given in the Shop Manuals during Advance-Design years.

Unless i am missing something the tech tip listed is for 1st series only. Reading the article the hinge bolts are different than a 1955 GMC 2nd series.

yes Fred, the tip is for the AD's, the shop manual has some help .... for the TF [BlueChip] trucks, the thing to do is assemble things loosely so you can move various parts a bit as you go, and be aware of the adjustment possibilities using the lower rad core support mounts [shimming] .... there's minimal adjustment possible at both sides of the hinges, up/down and forward/back .... if you have a problem with the back of the hood wanting to push up away from the cowl you have worn hinge pins .... hope that helps, but if you have specific problems just ask

...not sure about the TF but if you can do it without the hood springs I'd certainly advise adjusting the "gaps" at the cowing first before hooking up the springs.
