I am having a maddening noise in my transmission in 3rd and 4th gear.I took the tranny out disassembled it looked it over. No broken gears, bad syncros, etc. Greased it put it back together, installed it. Same noise. Bearings? Man, they looked and felt good. Hard to say when you can't put a load on em' at the bench. It only happens in 3rd and 4th under load. Reverse, 1st,2nd fine at any rpm. Transmission experts please tell me the answers!!!!! Thanks!!!

It says if its noisy in high gear range it could have excessive clearence on the mainshaft. I just rebuilt mine and the clearance is supposed to be between .003-.012 between the gears. I think you meant .012" +/-.003"for the 2nd speed gear and .012" +/-.002" for the 3rd speeed gear.
That wouldn't be causing the noise that the Bee is hearing, a bad bearing is most likely the problem. And as George mentioned, it could be from the rollers, are you sure that they were all in there when you loaded them. It's possable that someone left one out previously. Loading them can be tricky if you haven't done it before and it wouldn't be the first time one got left out.

It could be caused by the trans but could actually be something else making the noise. Usually a bearing noise will go away (for the most part) when in 4 th gear.
