Any one know what the going rate is for a rolling chassis without the engine/tranny? Somebody is offering a 1946 3/4ton one for sale for resto or rod. I think his price may be high so I wanted to see what he might get at a scrap yard for a counter offer.

Here in WA it's about $175 a ton for that type of material, minus tires. A bare frame certainly ain't nowhere near a ton...

Here in S.C. the scrap rate is currently about $12.65 per hundred pound.... give or take .50 cent on any given day.

Not sure what a rolling chassis weighs.
Our best scrap price in my area is $11/100 lbs.
Based on title, an entire 1/2 ton truck could weigh around 3,200 lbs. or so. You can do the math...
There's an Ebay seller who has a 54-55 1/2 ton frame only, for $550. I'm watching in interest to see if he sells it.
I bought a '58 headed to scrap from a buddy for parts for my '59 for $300. I've sold 17 excess parts off it and it's already paid for itself. I still have oodles of extra parts including engine/tranny and I'll still get close to $300 when I finally send it to the scrap yard.
Basically, if a person wants the frame he'll pay for it... or he could find a truck headed to scrap for the best deal.

Thanks, I guesstimating that scrap price is about $100 or less. That helps me evaluate the salvageable parts with the asking price to see if its worth pursuing.

Several years ago I bought a nice rolling 54 1/2 ton frame from another Bolter for $200, if I remember correctly.

...and I recently sold a nice frame to a bolter for less than Samantha.....and threw in some nice extra's for dirt cheap.... I can now see my back yard.
