I have a 283 with a TH350. Now that it is finally getting warmer and spring-like I can tackle this project. I want to get bout the engine and tramsmission out at this time. Correst me if I am wrong but the engine and transmission come out together, right? What is required to take the trans off, them the flexplate? Thanks for answering my rookie questions.

I remove components like the fuel pump and carb too just so it doesn't interfere with the chains or load leveler and break something. It's probably coming apart anyway isn't it?

My dad has an 80s chev truck and when he pulled parts he said it took no time at all to pull the front end off and remove engine and tranny as one. Then again he has the sm 465 which weighs a heck of a lot more then an auto...
Last time I had to hook up an auto while under the truck I woulda made a sailor blush with all my colorful sayings...

I would think removing the front end is still a lot more work than unbolting the tranny from the engine.
If you are working on the engine, pull the engine. If you are working on the tranny, Pull the tranny. You'll save time over removing both and/or the front end.

Or if you like lying on your back, slide the trans back using 2 long bolts in the bellhousing, & remove the flywheel w/o pulling anything out. Brian
