This is my 1952 Chevy truck. My truck which is fondly refered to as Otis (Old Truck Is Slow). He came with the name so my family decided to keep it. My dad gave me this truck for a first anniversary present. I am very excited about my present. I have wanted Otis for a very long time.
My dad purchased Otis about ten years ago from a man in Pennsylvania furnace, PA. The man that my dad bought him from got him in Alaska. Otis was then driven to Indiana. Otis lived there for awhile and then his owner married and moved to PA. We don't know whether he was tailored or driven to PA. So now Otis lives in Happy Valley PA.
I took Otis to my senior prom. The night before my prom my dad and I stayed up till one getting him ready for the prom. Prom was great. While getting him ready we broke the window. Since my prom which was seven years ago my dad has had Otis out maybe twice to drive around town. My dad never got his window fixed. So, my first project on my baby was to get his window fixed. He had a new window within two weeks of me owning him.
Its now been one year almost exactly since I got Otis. Last summer I would drive him when the weather was nice. He is not very water tight. We made it to one local car show last year. We mostly just ran to the grocery store short little jaunts. We made it to the local drag strip which is normally a 45 minute drive. It took us a bit longer. The breaks got a bit warm coming home. But we made it!
This coming winter we are hoping to restore my baby back to his original appearance. My husband and brother-in-law keep threatening to turn my truck in to a shop truck. Give him the patina look and put a small block in him. So I keep threatening their lives! I love my stovebolt! Even if he is a bit leaky, but we are working on that!

Here is a link to some pictures!
Otis

Thank you for all the information that you offer! I would be lost without this site!!!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Hi and welcome to you and Otis.

He's a fine looking old truck, and deserves the love of a good woman in his old age! grin

Try and get him watertight asap,as nothing spoils your drive as much as soggy floors and steamy windows.

The guys and gals here will help guide you through his restoration as and when you get round to it.

Don't let hubby and your brother in law sway you,it's your truck to do with as you please.
Your hubby's just jealous 'cos you have another man in your life! wink
Good luck.
Jock.

Welcome to the Bolt! You have a nice truck there.
If your hubby wants patina, he should find himself a truck that has it!
