I use an old pair of eyeglasses when I work on my truck and now that I'm painting they've become pretty coated with overspray making them nearly useless.

I'm happy to say that 3M RUBBING COMPOUND cleaned all the crud off without leaving any visible scratches.

Keep in mind that these are my "work glasses" so proceed at your own risk if your glasses are your "good pair".

Try rubbing alcohol. It may take a little elbow grease, but it is safe.

try "scratch out"...it is sold at the box stores like Walmart it werks great on plastic/acrylic of any type and is inexspensive ...my Uncle brought his H/D 03 dresser to the shop last yr. and had some sort of water/mineral stains on the clear coat of his fairing he could not get off ..after tryin lottsa high dollar products he was P.O.'D.
just for tickles i grabbed the scratch out onna the boys had bought for there snowmobile windshiled...WHALLA with a few gentle rubs all the stains were gone.
Try it...

Alcohol, on glass anyway. On plastic lenses, fingernail.

Don't ever use alcohol to clean acrylic, you will be sorry.
It will crack and crumble before you go "What the....."

If you don't have "work" glasses to use, a little trick is to tightly cover the lens with clear wrap like Saran Wrap. It does distort a little, but is passable to use in a pinch.

The last time I had paint overspray on my glasses, plastic lenses weren't around yet. Paint thinner solved the problem. If I was still painting these days I'd most likely wear a pair of goggles to prevent getting paint on my glasses in the first place.

Just look it up on youtube or some such thing, lots of people have found the issue and its common with ACRYLIC,if you haven't had a problem, then you aren't cleaning ACRYLIC.
Did I mention, this is with ACRYLIC ?
