I am quite lucky with this purchase because the guy I bought it from put over $2000.00 into it. The suspension and all the bushings underneath are all "new"(purchased in 2004)with disc brakes in front and installed but that was as far as he got before parking it and throwing a tarp over it. My original plan is to put a 350/350 turbo combo in it but I recently have an opportunity to buy a 454/400 combo to put in it. I have some time figure that out while I do the bodywork on the front clip and bedside.

Knowing what actual money has already been spent on the truck you did get a good deal. A lot of what the previousl owner(PO)did is a lot of grunt work you do not have to do.... and there is plenty of room under that hood for the big blocks  keep us posted. GREAT FIND! And oh... how I LOVE a 454! I came close to snagging one of those power houses to put in my '59 but decided to stay original...235... but MAN I love a big block! ha!

I did buy the 454/400 after all... couldn't help myself One thing that kinda got me wondering is...the transmission (Heavy Duty 400) has a drum brake connected to its tailshaft. Can that tail shaft be replaced with a regular tail shaft? Thanks!

I am a big fan of the sixes in these trucks, but yours very well may have had a small block in it when new. I am also an even bigger fan of the big blocks, I have 2 cars with BBC engines a 396 and a 454 LS6. Can your truck handle 500 foot pounds of torque? Nice to have a few options, have fun!
