There are so many power brake kits available for an AD with Huck or Bendix brakes but each one seems to have some sort of idiosyncracy. Has anyone actually found a power brake unit that really bolts in and uses the stock pedal location without fabricating anything?
I figure that would be one mod that could make my truck easier to drive.

...heres what I can tell you. For my 52 panel I recently bought the booster, dual master cyl., couple residual valves, the brackets to bolt it all on the chassis and the foot pedal all as a unit for $200 from PirateJacks in Asheville, N.C. I talked to the lady who certainly knows her stuff and told her about the Stovebolt gang. I got a good 15% discount and free shipping. (I'm only about 65 miles from Asheville)

Will it work? Well, I have not installed it yet but I will be in the next week or so. It does have all the stuff and looking at it I believe it will bolt right under the floorboard. I do NOT know exactly where the pedal will come through the floor yet.

I know some folks may know what m/c and booster to mate up but the kit was attractive as it has all the brackets and was a fair price since I spent no gas money running all over the county!!

oldblu49, I bought mine from Master Power Brakes.
It looks identical to Alvins but was considerably more expensive. headscratch
AFAIK it can also be used with a manual trans, but I cut the clutch arm off and used the remaing part as a spacer.I'm running a TH350C.
It uses a smaller 7" diameter booster so clearance is a little better, but it is a true bolt-in.
Here's a pic of mine installed.

Thank you both. Nice install JB. Anxious to hear from others. If I do it I would buy a kit as I am not one with any skills other than bolt-ins.

jock, that is a really neat job. It looks nice. The sad part is I will have to do mine with the body on. Back last year I could not pass up the deal I got on body/paint work even though I was not finished with my chassis. Anyway, I'll just have to crawl around under it and do it... I did have all the brake lines ran though! Whew. Again, nice job. Thanks for the pic.

I have recently bought a kit a from ECI,, the only real mods that had to be done was the lower hole on the mounting bracket had to be drilled out to 1/2 inch i have an early axle , and a small piece of casting taken off the caliper,, everything else bolted in pretty decent,,all pieces were good quality but it was a good chunk of change but well spent for safety and piece of mind, I have access to a full machine shop , but the regular backyard guy can put it in with minimal effort,, I have a 53 3100,

Alvin,I understand. It's so much easier with the cab/body off.
At least you had your lines run,I did have a few problems working round the engine, trying to drill and tap the holes for the line clamps.
Just make sure you get the panel really high (and safe) bust out the crawler board and cut down on all that rich BBQ food! wink grin

i bought a complete bolt in kit from www.performanceonline for my 57. using their 7" booster model that bolts to the factory bracket under the floor board and utilizes the factory brake pedal.
you will drill 2 holes in the frame for a supplied master cylinder bracket and thats about it.
i did have to grind a few areas on the caliper brackets for more clearance on tight turns, they were hitting the king pin bolt, but that may be due to the fact i am running a 3 inch dropped axle.
also had to turn about .010 out of the i.d. of the supplied bearing adaptor that slides onto the factory spindle.
seems that nothing is truly a bolt on for these old trucks.

How about a power brake system using the original drum/shoe combo?
