Well, my name's Zach Davis and I live in Sandy, Oregon, but please for the love of God don’t call me an Oregonian… I’m still a Kansan at heart. Anyway, this is about my PROJECT. She’s a ‘61 Chevy Apache 20 longbox fleetside. She’s 2WD and has the 4 on the floor and a straight six.Here's the link to the pics - 61 Chev Apache 20 Pics. Found her rotting and rusting at an older woman’s house about 3 weeks ago, where she’d been parked in the woods uncovered by anything but blackberries since early ’85, Bought her and a ‘75 Pontiac Lemans for $200, she even had the titles! The Lemans has a 350ci and a TH350 that I might use in the truck and I plan to part out and scrap the rest to recoup the purchase price of the old girl. Tried to pull her out of her grave and couldn’t on account of the incline and mud in front and the fact that she had 1 tire of the rim that refused to blow back on and 2 locked brake drums. So I went to work and got her runnin and drivin… no small feat considering she’s been parked (with no air cleaner) longer than I’ve been alive. Got her driven up to where we could actually get the trailer to her and brought her home. She’s a “bucket” but she’s mine and she was a pretty nice find if I do say so myself. Now comes the fun part! Yup, that’s my gas tank. I modified that gas can so I could use it as a gravity feed system. When she was parked 25 years ago she had a half a tank of gas, which between the natural breakdown of gas and condensation is all water. I was up against the clock because of the weather (if you look at the pics where I parked her out by the road you’ll notice the snow) so I didn’t have time to drain and clean the tank. I just spliced into the hard line and ratchet strapped the can to the cab and off I went.

Great truck - I wish I could have had the honour of driving my project before I started taking her apart (well, I guess I did get to drive her in tow...) The engine didn't turn over as freely as one would hope.

Love the gas tank configuration - do what you gotta do, right?

Yes, any updates? The truck was in remarkable condition considering how long it had been sitting there returning to the earth.
