I hope this is in the right forum, but does anybody know what years, makes and/or model key-start switches are a good fit for the 53 A-D truck. I have the original switch which is just on-off for the foot starter. i would like to get my ignition, glove box and doors all keyed the same. Also anybody know who sells them new or used?

If your switch and door lock is orginial they should be keyed for the same key. The glove box used another key.

You can take you tumblers to a locksmith along with the ignition key and have them keyed for that key.

OK, The ignition switch won't work, no key start. I am missing keys for any locks that I have unless you consider the ignition switch will work with a screwdriver.

The original question was what years do I look in for a switch that will work in the truck not what to do with the stuff I have that won't.

.....I'm wondering the same thing but I believe I can find a "universal" start switch that will at leas resemble the original and then have a key cut using a chevy key blank.... I'm hoping!!

EDIT: I did this with my 37 but could never find a Chev key blank close enough to cut one tha would fit the switch... but no one knows but me!!

No they do not look or act like originals, I am using one of the first link types and it sticks between on and start. Very bad for the starter. I would like to find one like this one that JimBow gave to deluxe54panel a couple years ago.
