Can anyone tell me the differences between a 1/2 ton and a 1 1/2 ton 1950's era chevy trucks? I want to start a project truck and found a good 1 1/2 ton truck with a good body. The front clip and cab look the same between a 1/2 ton and the 1 1/2 ton I found.

Cab is the same everything forward is bigger to clear the larger wheels. Everything, fenders, inners, hood, latch panels, gravels shield, grills etc.

Cab's interchange, fenders do not, and I dont think grills do either, but dont quote me on that. Hoods dont. Everything was, of course, bigger on the big bolts. Wheels, tires, some sheet metal all do not match anywhere close to that of a 1/2 ton.

No 'bolt yet, but if you'd like to help me out with that, send me a message! Or check out my wanted add in the swap meet.

The grilles do not match, I tried to put a big bolt grille in a 1/2 ton and it wasn't even close. They look the same but are not.

Parts are harder to come by on the larger trucks.

Really? Since when? My CarQuest and Napa have parts on the shelf for mine. Some of the drivetrain parts are the same for over 40 years. I, of course, also recommend going with the big truck,
