For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 28 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 28 | Can anyone tell me the differences between a 1/2 ton and a 1 1/2 ton 1950's era chevy trucks? I want to start a project truck and found a good 1 1/2 ton truck with a good body. The front clip and cab look the same between a 1/2 ton and the 1 1/2 ton I found. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | Cab is the same everything forward is bigger to clear the larger wheels. Everything, fenders, inners, hood, latch panels, gravels shield, grills etc.

Hoods dont. Everything was, of course, bigger on the big bolts. Wheels, tires, some sheet metal all do not match anywhere close to that of a 1/2 ton.
No 'bolt yet, but if you'd like to help me out with that, send me a message! Or check out my wanted add in the swap meet.

They look the same but are not. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,989 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,989 | Just fix up the 1 1/2 ton. Big Bolts are more fun anyway!! | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | Parts are harder to come by on the larger trucks.

My CarQuest and Napa have parts on the shelf for mine. Some of the drivetrain parts are the same for over 40 years. I, of course, also recommend going with the big truck, Scott | | |
