I need to fill my newly rebuilt rearend with oil; what do you guys recommend? It's a 1975 chevy 12-bolt.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, guys!

Next question: how much do I need to put in it? I tried Advance, they couldn't tell me.

Also, the rearend cover has no drain or fill holes; how the heck am I supposed to get it in there? Through the vent, I suppose?

there is a pipe plug on the differential housing on the passengers side behind the universal yoke, you will see the hole is square use an extension 3/8 or 1/2 i cant remeber but that will remove it.
after removing the plug fill the rear until lube runs back out the hole (that is the full level) replace the plug (use teflon tape on plug) and your DUN!

Thanks, man! Do you think that two bottles of oil would be enough to fill it? Or would I need more?

thanks to this thread i just figured out that i was trying to fill my rear end improperly. i was trying to fill it through the vent hose instead of through the hole in the passenger side haha.

Dude! I was about to do that myself!

Sure enough, it was almost exactly two bottles. There isn't but about a 1/4" left in the second bottle. It's a 3/8" drive rachet that will open the plug as well. Thanks for the info, Radial.
