Anybody done a big back window conversion on there 60-66 truck? I have the small back window and would like a big back window. It is hard enough to find a decent cab for these years, and even harder to find one that has a big back window.

I figure the only way is to find a wrecked or rusted up big back window cab and somehow cut out the back window and fit in my little cab back window.

Anyone with experience in this area, I could use some advice.

I've done one on my 63. The part that needs changed is the inner panel in the rear of the cab. The window opening is the only thing needed changed on the outside. All you do is cut out the hole bigger. On the inside, you will need to drill all of the spot welds holding the inner panel to the cab and cut it from the roof panel. Swap it out with a rear panel from a big window cab (which I have one) and you're done. If you're interested in my panel, PM me and we'll talk,
Scott

Got the big back window from Scott and here are some pics so far.

Two Pieces have been removed form both cabs.

Removing spot weld gunk from seam.

Big window is in place to check for fit.

Rubber mallot helped to adjust the fit to be more snug at the seam.

After all of the research I have done on this project, it seams like things are going very easy. Just alot of grinding.

Next is to use adhesive to bond the two pieces where the seam meets. Than weld window into place and than cut out remnants of little window.

Will keep things up to date on the progress.

Thank you for all the help out there from you Stovebolters!

Here is a link to a web site that I am working on that describes the process of converting a small back window to the large back window on the 60-66 chevy trucks.

Let me know what you think so far.

Thanks to Scott for the big window panel.
