# 2170 From Randy : I have been working hard on my 1961 Chevy Long Wheelbase Fleetside Apache. Got a big job going on! In May of 2008, I decided to take my small back window out and replace it with a BIG back window!! The donor cab came from Scott "48bigtrucks" Ward. Scott gave me a lot of advice and helped me to figure the conversion. Big attaboy to him! I have a write-up about it on my web site. Please feel free to check it out and please send me comments. The reason for doing the 1960-66 back window conversion web site is there is very little information on how to do this. Especially a web site that has detailed 'how to' pics. So I did one. Right now, the site has some pics of the progress and a description of the steps involved in doing this project. I am still working on this project so the web site is not finished yet and neither is the project. It is on hold because we are trying to get the 1966 Chevy Suburban rolling for the All Trucks Nats this year.

(Randy is going to let us use this Tip on Stovebolt, too. Hopefully, we can generate more feedback for him. And help some others who want to give this a try! AND, we'll get to see him at the Stovebolt Reunion at the All Trucks National in Kansas City ... soon! ~ Editor)

From Randy This is a 1961 Chevrolet Fleetside Apache pickup. This was one real deal I could not pass up. I know I am addicted to these old Chevy trucks. This one makes number eight for me. I plan on putting in a 283 with a 3 speed on the column. Currently it has no motor or trans in it. I am also looking for the correct side trim for this truck. It is the trim that looks like an arrow going to the back fender. Not many trucks on Stovebolt have this style of trim. I have just changed over the hood to the correct hood style, too -- the double bubble, or jet intakes, or cat eyes hood, whatever you want to call them. The hood is what makes this truck! This will be my current build and don't forget about my 1966 Burb, I am working in tandem on both these trucks. I am a current member of the Genuine Chevy / GMC Truck Club of KC. I have eight Chevy trucks spanning 41 years-- a 1950 3100, a 1953 3600, a 1966 Suburban, a 1969 C/10, a 1984 Custom Deluxe and my a 1991 S10 4x4 Blazer. My current project is the 1950 3100, it is nearing completion, and I am keeping this pretty much original looking. Randy
Besides being a member of Stovebolt, and the Genuine Chevy / GMC KC Truck Club. Randy has a collection of seven Chevy trucks. Here's his Photobucket account. These are the one's we have in our Gallery: a 1950 Chevy 3100, a 1958 Chevy Fleetside, a 1961 Chevrolet Fleetside Apache, a 1966 Chevy Suburban.
