The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk Bed is DONE!

Well the Wife got a call this eve. while i was sleepin from my last night of work,Truck bed is done! will be goin up to the painter in the morning to bring home.
Looks like havin the Ol Gal road worthy enough for my 18yr. old to take his date to his Senior prom "IN STYLE" is doable!
The plan is to have him go pick her up an make the SHOW at the Prom, then after they go in for the dance, the wife an me will discretely swap out the Bolt for his daily driver Jeep Wrangler,
for after the Prom lets out!..lol
NO HE ISNT HAVIN IT ALL NIGHT!....
Im only so flexible on stuff like that, WE ALL REMEBER what happens after our Senior Prom...my freshly painted Bolt will be safe & snug in its stall in the shop when i go to bed...hehehehehe

lol, your nicer than I am, my cousin wanted to borrow the 63 to take to his prom a few years back. Just could'nt do it, to much time and energy spent in it. I have a 6 year old tho and i MAY let him take the 50 to his prom here in 12 years or so, lol.

well this is a SPECIAL occasion, and the wife is backin the rapid progress on the Truck for this reason, dont TELL
Heres the poop, we met she had 1 child I had 1 child..we married an had 1 together...my Step son has been with me since before he was 2 has never met his real father, Im his Dad an she is all for me gettin this truck done for His Senior Prom, so Im not rockin the boat!she is lettin me spend some $..I let Brenda handle the $.lol
my Son from my first marriage is serving this Great Country in Iraq at the present time & will not be able to be with us this yr.
Now the youngest has been helpin in the shop allot lately to get the truck done.
So it is a Dad an Boys thing as far as puttin together Mom makes the budget..lol

Couldn't agree with ya more Tim! In the end which one is going to be at your bedside at the final count down? Taint the two tons of iron that's for sure. And in reality that's all it is, just a hunk of iron. Take the worst case; he dents a fender parking it, so that gives you and the boys another project to work together on. There are more parts available for these old trucks today than there was back in the day when they were new, so nothing on them is irreplaceable. The memories that your boys will carry with them for the rest of their lives is priceless.

And you guys didn't do that sort of thing in your day??? I've just got mine home two days ago after sandblasting her. My two kids are keen to help paint and put back together. Its a fare while till my kids can drive.

Tim, I know about the "his" "hers" and "theirs" thing. Been there. Hats off to you for I know Exactly what your doing. My stepson calls me dad/pop and I call him son! Just the way it is. Wife and I agreed on one thing.....the more we love each others kids the more we love each other!

That said I remember a dear friend letting me drive his/her 1963 SuperSport to my Senior prom in 1966. It was that or the old beat up 54. I'll never forget their kind deed and I drove it nicely.....took it back home, got the old 54 and THEN went out on the town.

I can also remember my youngest daughter, she was 18 at the time, when I pulled over and told her to get behind the wheel of the 37 that as a small kid she had helped scrap the mud, muck, and the grease off the chassis ect. I'll never forget that ride and if I have the 37 when I die its hers!
Bless you for the work you've done with your kids and showing them you do care.

will hopefuly get the bed set on this week some mornin when i can get some able bodied help from my workers to haul the thing in to the shop an set it, all it will take is a fresh 30 pack for after to get some voluteers..lol
they are all baought a cold one after a volunteer action...lol

I let my son drive our 75 Vette to his senior prom. It was the only proper thing to do, it showed I trusted him and was thanking him for all of the help he has provided to me while working on our vehicles. Would do it again in a heartbeat!!
